A cross between beer and a mead, Heliocentric Bragot revives an ancient tradition and proves that the Earth does revolve around the sun - sunflower honey, that is.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear amber with a half finger of white head. aroma is sweet with honey and a decent floral hop aroma. Taste is fruity with vanilla and oak and some sweet honey. medium bodied with a slick texture. Lively, almost fizzy carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, I’m really liking this one. Not sure where the barrel flavor comes from, but I’m digging this.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at a friends house while transferring some homebrew. Appearance is a moderate gold, relatively transparent, small white head that rims around the glass. Aroma is light with a rich honey profile, maybe a little bit of caramel malt. Taste equally rich in honey, definitely sweet, more of a mead than an amber ale. Not bad, unexpected.

On tap at Fountainhead. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bit of honey with sweet grains and a hint of sweet fruit. Flavor has a slightly boozy honey with a bit of light fruit and flora. Drinkable but not complex.

bottle - Pours clear, deep golden with a huge, fizzy white head. It smells of honey and cereal malt. The flavor is sweet honey and bready malt with a little alcohol noticeable. It’s medium bodied and bubbly. Interesting brew.

Beautiful amber color; high carbonation, nice thin perlage, big frothy head. The aroma immediately shows some sourness, confirmed by the flavor; the body is now thin, there is light caramel and very light liquorice, maybe a byproduct of the undesired fermentation. The bottle is not fresh, almost 2 years old, and it hasn’t kept up gracefully.

Bottled. A hazy light amber bragot with a beige head. The aroma is ssweet with strong notes of fruit as well as medium notes of malt, alcohol, and caramel, and a touch of oxidation. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, metal, alcohol, berries, and oxidation. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
