12 oz bottle. Pours a very deep brown, not quite black. Medium off white to tan head, thick, leaves some lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee, toast, caramel, dark fruit. Taste is the same, thinner mouthfeel than expected, no finish, bland and muted flavors.

Ordinary schwarzbier. Not very bad, just average. Nice to drink, but nothing exciting.

Mini bottle at home in London - huge thanks to Colin for hooking this up. Pours clear brown with a frothy, light tan cap. Nose holds toasted bread, light earth, cocoa. Light sweet flavor with more toasty bread, soft milk chocolate, brown bread, faint brown sugar, touches of tobacco and charcoal. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with light roasted malts, burnt toast, mellow earthy bitterness and hints of baking cocoa. So so.

330ml bottle at home. Pours a dark reddish brown with decent off-white head. Aromas are toffee, butterscotch, hazelnuts. Taste has toffee sweetness and a metallic note. Not bad mouthfeel for the strength. Decent dark beer.

Bottle in hotel room, from a supermarket in Cascais, 10/09/13. Christ - it’s not a pale lager or sems alcool !!! Pours very light black/dark mahogony brown with a moderate light tan head. Nose is toffee, dark fruits, brown sugars, dark malts. Taste comprises dark malts, cardboard, earthy, faint cocoa, touch of caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation with spritz, dry finish. By Portuegese standards - not bad!

Bottled 330ml. -Dark brown (almost black) coloured, minimal off-white head, whiff of coffee in the nose. Sweet malty, light roasty, caramel and light coffee with mild roasty finish. Lack of body is evident but all in all ok beer.

33 cl bottle @ KBF. Rated on 26.11.2010
Aroma is quite light with some roastiness and syrupy malt. Flavour is slightly sweet with roasted malt, hints of chocolate, coffee and herbs. Too thin and straigtforward for a schwarz.
