As the 500-year-old Mühlviertel tradition goes, on special occasions brewery workers would fill large buckets (Kübel) with beer directly from the fermentation tanks. They would then pass around this extremely fresh, unfiltered beer and drink from the Kübel in turn. Because none of the proteins, yeast, or hop essences had been filtered out, this beer was fuller and more aromatic than any other they served. For this exact reason, our former head brewer, Franz Krammer, took it upon himself to bring this age-old tradition back to life.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness York. Hazy gold colour lasting white head. Some cereal flavour. Some lemon flavour. It's a light kellerbier. quite drinkable. not over carbonated. some bitterness on the finish. pretty good I thought. drinkable enough.

Tap at Kangurah, Vienna, 13th March 19. Pours straw colour with a nice head and haze. Aroma is fresh grass and citrus. Taste is really fresh, grass, yeast and light bitterness. Good.

Decent zwikel beer. But not top notch. More a bit hazy lager with some faint citric notes. Anyway quite easy drinkable at the end of the day when you had to much heavy stuff.

Slightly vegetal, citric, straw, honey, dough. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly tart. Slender medium body with soft carbonation. Nice!

33cl bottle from Sebilinz, thanks! Euro Swap 2 /2015. Pours unclear, golden, thick white head. Aroma has dusty grains, mild yeasty notes, dough. Smooth, very refreshing. Flavor has minerals, grains, mild earthy notes. High drinkability. Great zwickl.

On tap at Känguruh Pub. Hazy, golden colour with a fantastic white head. Aroma is malts and grains with fresh, citrusy hops. Taste is medium sweet with grassy hops, light yeast and fruits. Very refreshing.
