Sample at the taproom. Dark brown color with some amber around the edges, and a medium thick off-white head that recedes gradually to a film. Stringy lacing. Smokey aroma with malt and rye notes. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, coffee and fruit. The finish is smokey with a rye malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tap. Pours clear mahogany, small tan head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is quite light, a bit of smoke and roast. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter, not really a lot of flavor, some breadiness, roast. Minimal smoke. Medium body, lingering bitterness. Swing and a miss.
