A dark brown ale deriving maltiness from two types of American crystal malts, yet not overly heavy in body. Rounded with a nutty flavor from chocolate malt and a hint of black patent malt. Finished with aromatics from Czech Saaz hops.

bottle, pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is carmel malt, some toasted nutty notes with a cinnamon and peppery fire. Flavor is nice and dark malt sweet with some spicing in the finish and a little bit of tartness lingering for a few seconds. Solid.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Sparky27. Pour is cola brown with slight ruby highlights, decent settling builds up a one inch tan head. Thick lacing coats the glass. Aroma of stale roasted maltiness, some natural tobacco earthiness in there too. Not a bad nose. Taste is the slight stale roastiness of the nose, though in the taste it is more akin to weak office coffee mixed with iced tea. Some really faint apple fruit sweetness way in back. Big step down from the nose. Palate is thin to medium, a little of a metallic chemical thing going on. Overall, not much pleasant beyond the nose. Thanks for sending these all my way Eric.

12oz bottle-pours a thin tan head with some trailing laceing and dark brown color. Aroma is molasses/chocolate/roasty-dark malt, some earthy hops. Taste is acidic hops first then molasses/chocolate/roasty-dark malt, ashy, which by mid-palate unfortunately disappoints and turns to the thin side. Bottles seem to vary in quality. Notes to this point were first 2 bottles and would be 2.8, next 2 bottles were a cleaner less acidic/thin. Shared with decaturstevo.

Bottle. Rich roasted nutty brown malt aroma. Maybe with hints of coffee and chocolate. Suggestive of a porter, somewhat. Deep brown color with a white ring for head. Near medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor definitely has chocolate, dark roasted nutty malt, and an underlying slight bit of sour. Finish is rather dry, and has a bit of hop. Seems like a mix of a coarse American brown ale and a smooth porter. Very nice drink.

Bottle: Pours a rich brown with ruby tones and a huge beige head. Nose is hoppy with hints of roasted malt. Flavor is dark and malty, a bit of burnt malt. Some florals and tangy bitterness that I can’t put my finger on. A little earthy. Thin in the body, but refreshing.
