Huge pale-beige head, very dense & fine, over deep chestnut-coloured beer. Warm, sweetish caramelmalts, cypress, undergrowth, brown candi sugar. Bitterish-sweet, softly roasted & caramel malts, faint leaves & spices. Quite some restsugars, ’t would seem. Very smooth, rather well-bodied, creamy MF, even if it fades out a bit. Typical Du Bocq, if maybe less spiced/roasted than some similars.

bottle bought from Plan-B, copenhagen. BBF 20-09-2008, sampled 23-05-2009 so well lagered. brewed by Sterkens for Roskilde ØL (is du Bocq = Sterkens?) very dark amber, large thick smooth very good looking head. aroma of raisins, grapes, caramel. flavor is surprisingly bitter, i get bitter caramel, sweetness from brown sugar, faint dark fruits. quite balanced except for the bitter note. flavor is very okay considering the age. fresh bottle bbf 2013, tasted 2010. cloudy brown, smooth offwhite head. 4 aroma is spicy (christmas spices, raisins, dark malty).6 flavor is nutty, caramelly, pretty dry. alc. can be tasted 6 pal 3 ov 13

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a faint reddish hue and a diminishing light brown head. Fruity and caramel malt aroma. Flavour is slight spiced, quite dark malty and with a bit of fruit lingering into the finish. Slight warming alcohol finish which burns mildly.

Bottled (Thanks Papsoe!). Dark reddish brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is toffee, caramel and slight spicyness. Also some dark dry fruits. Flavour is yeast, caramel, dark dry fruits and also some mild spicyness. Once it warms up a bit it gets really bigtime plum and raisins in both aroma and flavour. Also balances up really nicely.
