’Luxe pils’, one of the last Belgian representatives of a more ’luxurious’ form (though only superficially) of pale lager inspired by Carlsberg and Tuborg in the seventies. Bright yellowish blonde lager with grainy and malt sweet profile, some corn, spicy hops in the finish like in its Danish predecessors, but still a boring and industrial standard lager.

On tap at a restaurant, served very cold, very little aroma - what was there was typical lager stuff, alcohol and some grains. Very light colour, no head. Okay flavour, lighter taste, lots of citrus notes and grains. Just okay.

Pression at Au Trappistes. Gold color with a fluffy white head. Light malt aroma. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is strong pale malt with grassy/spicey hop. Finishes decently dry. Seems towards a German pilsener or a heller bock, as there are lots of ingredients. No skimping on this by InBev. Very good with moules.

Served on tap at a restaurant in Paris. Pour has a largish, rocky white head with good retention and lacing. Gold clear body. Aroma is a rich grassiness. Taste is like a German Pils. Nice and thirst quenching. Kind of sweet. Mouthfeel is a bit dry with a bit too bubbly carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle. Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, grain, hay. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a short to average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (190208)

draft - Poured clear gold with a thin head and a light pale malt aroma. It tasted sweet and light, so sweet it reminded me of some belgian blonde beers. It was lively on the palate and to me made for a decent session beer. It’s a bit lower rated than I expected. Maybe the quality drops significantly in bottles or maybe I was just having a good night and liked anything.
