Brewed using only the materials that would have been available in Nelson's day when the Royal Navy had traditionally taken beer to sea as its keeping qualities were better than those of water.

330ml Bottle - From 2003. Dark brown with red tinges. Raisins, wood and notes of port in the aroma. Rich and fruity taste with notes of raisins, port, wood, spicy malt and currants. Warming but not too rich.

Smakade på en gammal flaska, minns inte årtalet hösten 2008 som hade fantastiska honungs- och marsipantoner, torkad frukt, portvin. Jag är svag för denna typ av öl, därav det höga betyget.

Bottle at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A clear, brown beer without head. Oxidation, some caramel, alcohol and dried fruits in the aroma. The flavor has some sweetness, caramel and oxidation, leading to a lasting finish with caramel and oxidation. Warming, full-bodied and flat. A nice one, but still not there. I like English beers like this one, but it somehow disappointed a bit. (080913

Bottle at KØ07. Very sweet, oxidized prune aroma. Clear red/brown colour. No head. The flavour starts off citric, turns sweet and then dried fruity. Very vinous and oxidized, with some alcohol notes. Very long raisin aftertaste. I just do not like old beer.

Cask @ Bishop’s Arms Malmö. Colour is Amber. Aroma is fruity and a bit nutty. Has a sweet malty flavor and some caramle hints. Maybe not the best from Fullers.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Brownish amber. Resiny hop aroma. Dry and ligh bodied with a distinct, firm mouthfeel. salty and bready with a finish that mixes orange and bitterness. Another solid, if perhaps unexciting beer from Fuller’s. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Trafalgar Ale on 12 Mar 2005 at 05:14 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: Bottled, 2005 vintage (10%). Clear brownish amber. Aroma of toffee and dry white wine. Richly malty with some peppery brandy character. There’s some leather, lactic acidity and licorice.Complex andvery interesting.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and fruit giving it a very slight spiciness. The flavor is also sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and spices - it might be the molasses that gives it the spiciness, though I can’t pick out the molasses. Nice.
