Cloudy brown beer. Semi dry palate. Semi sweet aged malt that is just slightly sour. A little red fruit underneath. A trace of spicy aniseed. Interesting but not outstanding.

Rating I found in an old note book. Bottle. Poured hazy brown with a slight red hue and a small tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had dark notes with some raisins sticking out as well as a bit of roasted malts and some grains. Flavor began with dark fruits but finish brought out a bit of nuttiness with caramel and raisins.

Bottled (brought back fromDenmark this summer). Slightly hazy deep ambery brown colour with mediumsized off-white head, leaves nice lace. Aroma is big time caramel malts, bready malts as well as some slight hops and alcohol. Flavour is quite much the same along with some raisins and plummy notes. A bit strong on the alcohol, but otherwise a very nice and balanced doppelbock.

Bottle from Barley wine. Pours hazy brown red with just a few bubbles on top. Smells sweet of raisins and wine. Tastes sweet at first and then nutty to finish hoppy.

Bottle. Look: Red brown colour, no head. Smell: Syrup, raisins, small smokeiness. Taste: Fruity session beer at first, the aftertaste is more complex. Syrup, raisin, some roasted tones, small bitterness, nutty. Overall: Smooth, well made. Interesting.

Bottle, kindly provided by the brewer. A clear, amber to copper beer with a nice off-white head. Beefstock, pinecones, resin and alcohol in the aroma. Quite hoppy for a doppelbock, but pleasant. Malty and hoppy flavors blends nicely, giving beefstock, some sweetness, pinecones, resin and a fine bitterness. Finishes in the same way. Fullbodied. A quite nice one, not spot on the style, but a nice twist. (081003)

aroma: very nice , plumes, dark fruits, seem well balanced. slight vinous (delicious). looks : red, no head. flavor:well balanced, "brown ale"’ish, cellared oaked flavor, slight alc. flavor, but far less than expected at 9%, sugar, aftertaste is kinda sugarlike, in a nice way. also some caramel.
