Our desire, at Porterhouse Brew Co, to create beers of increasing complexity is the inspiration behind this brew. A mash bill of seven different malts complimented by seven separate hop additions, was brewed continuously over the space of 24 hours. A whole day’s brewing resulted in an immense concentration of malt flavours. The resulting beer has matured in freshly emptied bourbon and sherry casks from the Dingle whiskey distillery. The outcome is a rich smooth dark Imperial Stout unlike anything else.

Batch 1. Black with thin head. Aroma and flavour start with sweet vanilla notes. Later more sweetness of dried sultanas and raisins from the sherry. Enough roasted bitter malts to keep it in balance. Even though the finish is again sweet with dried fruits.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch release 3 - 12.5% ABV,, from Alko, 20211206) The beer poured oily and black. Its head was tiny and lightly brown. Aroma had wood, vanilla, sweetness and soy sauce. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, wood, burnt malts, dark chocolate, vineousness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had sweetness, wood and bitterness. A brew with clean barrel notes but unfortunately it was way too sweet.

Nearly opaque reddish brown beer, fizzy tan head. Hefty aroma of spirits and malt. Flavour has toasty malt, a little anise, dark chocolate, bourbon, some dried fruit. Rich, smooth, toasty finish, tastes boozy and warm without having the alcohol burn. I like this a lot

Bottle at home. Opaque black color, medium sized fizzy beige head. Aroma is malts, brown malts, liquor. Flavor is malts, brown malts quite heavily, caramel, toffee notes lightly, brown sugar. A bit sticky texture, lingering malt bitter finish. Quite nice. I like it.

Bottle. Black with a red hue. Aroma of whisky malt. Flavour is sweet whiskey, dark wood malt base, not a huge amount of stout on this one, more barley wine territory.
