The original Burton-brewed India Pale Ale and an ale built to last. Perfected back in 1822 and just as good today.
A rich and challenging beer. Malty with caramel, toffee notes and a touch of spice. The subtle hedgerow fruit aroma is enhanced with a dash of citrus. A robust bitterness, with a lovely linger, is balanced by a slightly sweet, full body.

1/3 pint, gravicask, shared with Finn at GBBF Winter '23. Clear brownish body, dotted spots on the glass from a covering beige head. Invitng brown malty aromas, scent of dried fruit. Quite delightful malty flavours, grain and caramel, offset by moments of leafy hop bitterness towards the finish. Well bodied. Like it. (Burton Upon Trent, 16.02.2023).

Gravity cask at the GBBF Winter Beer Festival in Burton-Upon-Trent. Pours almost clear copper with an off-white cap. Aroma: malt, caramel, fruity. Taste: moderate sweet & bitter, semi-dry, malty, caramel, warming alcohol, tiny sour note. Medium body with soft carbonation. Good to see historic styles/beers being revived.
