Bitter was one of the first beers brewed by Brains back in 1882 and has stood the test of time as a mainstay of the brewery ever since. Traditionally in Cardiff, Bitter was always known as “Light”… because it wasn’t Dark!
With fruity pair drop notes in its body and a mildly toasted aroma, Bitter is an honest, crisp refreshing beer for everyday drinking.

Cask@Yard, Cardiff. Light copper brown color, decent creamy off-white head. Fresh butterscotch and grass in the aroma. Mildly hoppy, slightly harsh, malty ale. Boring and uninteresting, although drinkable.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF, 2004] A hazy amber beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of honey. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel.

Amber; slight caramely, fruity aroma (passion fruit, watermelon, even some grapefruit). Finishes slightly watery, which I guess makes it refreshing. Earthy, caramelly backdrop.
