Brutal bitter is a imperial bitter and one of the original hazy beers that dates back more than 20 years. Brewed and dry hopped with 100% Rogue Farms Alluvial hops that exhibit flavors and aromas of peach (no fruit added). The malt adds good structure, some nuttiness and provides a deep golden hue.

Dense, irregular yellowish cream head over well-carbonated, fully hazy orange beer: shards of lace; Sweet, cake & rosewater, orangepeel. One can guess the hospe, but this is not a hoppy nose. Let alone brutal... Oranges, orangepeel, dry hops (especially retronasal). Bit grassy, too. Nice, suggested sweetness from the nose is held quite in check. Medium bodied, quite slick, well-carbonated. Nose misleads - the rest is more than decent.

Draught at Delirium Hoppy Loft. Very thickly lacing, towering, frothy and dense, egg-white head, cloudy amberish orange blonde robe. Strong bouquet of orange peel, caramel candy, kiwi, pineapple, pink grapefruit, wet paper, toasted pine nuts, chicken broth, bitter honey - complex, perfumey and sweet, a bit unusual for the style. Soft tropical fruitiness in the onset, peach, kiwi, strawberry sweetness, orange, medium carbo with a smooth, slick caramelly maltiness, aromatically hoppy finish, spicy, blood orange ’citrusness’, bit peppery but in all soft and much more aromatic than deeply bittering, letting a lot of juicy maltiness pass. Soft, rounded, ’tropical’ IPA, very interesting.

Bottle from Mitsuya’s. Pours a clear orange-amber with a modest off-white head. Big orange marmalade aromas with some grapefruit and pine notes as well. Taste is more of the same with the orange really standing out. Good caramel sweetness present as well. Awesomely balanced but pretty straight forward IPA. Nice medium to light bitter finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Nation Brutal India Pale Ale on 10 Feb 2016 at 14:07

0.65 l bottle from P&M Getränke (6.2% abv). Hazy, reddish amber with a thin, soapy, slowly diminishing, white head. Fruity-resiny aroma of orange, honey, tangerine, pine and hints of grapefruit. Sweetish, fruity-resiny taste of orange, honey, tangerine, pine and hints of grapefruit. Short, slightly bitter finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, average carbonation. Not as brutal as expected, rather mild for an IPA. Still quite good but too malt-accented in my opinion.

Bottiglia @ Milano Beer Week.
