Stiegl-Weizengold is proof positive that we at the Stiegl Brewery in Salzburg are just as much experts at brewing "weissbier" as the Bavarians: Stiegl-Weizengold. 12 ° original gravity, 5.3 % alcohol by volume, finest ingredients, top-fermenting process. All of these are responsible for top quality and an unmistakable flavour. Stiegl-Weizengold is available in two types, the lighter-coloured "Hefefein" and the darker "Dunkel". "Hefefein" weissbier from Salzburg, is refreshing, untreated and invigorating. Brewed by Brauerei Riegele, Augsburg, Germany under supervision of the Stiegl Brauerei.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is spicey and some wheat. Flavor is more grainy than anything and not much banana or yeast show up. Some cirtus is there but this is not a good example of the style.

Bottle. Alc. 5.1% Unclear mediun to dark yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, wheat, moderate to heavy buttery. Whoa! It’s all head. For me the aroma is banana and phenolic resin. It’s a hazy ripe apricot color (after the head went down). The humongous head hardly laced as it went down. Quite a visual display, though. Rather thin bodied. Light carbonation (it was all in the head!). Almost creamy texture. Citrusy, lightly sour, wheat, and the banana definitely follows. That’s sort of the finish. Wheat and banana. Some citrus sour on the edges. Might be some clove - at least there is some lurking spice. Mouthsmackingly good.

Mild herber Antrunk, etwas sauer zitronenartig. Zum Mittelteil hopfiger, weiter mild und sehr monoton. Saurer Nachgeschmack. Absolut überflüssiges Weizen. Test vom 30.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,5,6,4,11,5 - 5,80

Bottled (brewed under license by Riegele Brauhaus, Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany, 5.1%). Cloudy dark yellow, creamy head. Citric phenolic aroma. Sweet with rounded, spritzy mouthfeel, medium body. Evident wheat malt flavour. All the flavour seem to hide behind a plastic curtain. A dull, fairly industrial wheat beer.

(Bottle, Man in the Moon, Stockholm) Golden yellow colour, cloudy, with firm white head. Spicy nose with a sweetish wheat aroma and notes of banana. Spicy taste with a sweet wheat character, banana and clove. Rather unadventurous, but a flawless and fairly nice hefeweizen.

One of the 3 Stiegls I tried in Salzburg. This was propably the weakest of the three. An average hefeweizen.

Draught. Weak banana aroma. Cloudy orange colour, stable white head. Mild banana flavour. Pleasant carbonation for a wheat beer. Palatable and nice.

An unclear dark orange beer with a huge very white head. The aroma is very wheaty with notes of bananas and some citrus. The flavor is sweet and very wheaty with some notes of banana and citrus, while the body is light. An OK light bodied Hefeweizen.
