Bottle. Black pour with a small beige head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is strong with classic porter notes of anise, licorice, burnt sugars, dark fruits and a bit of whiskey barrel. The taste mirrors the aroma with lots of smooth anise, raisins, bit of burnt cocoa, bitter walnuts and bourbon. The palate is full and creamy. Finishes long with lingering bitter black malts. Paired superbly well with a Comte type of cheese. Overall: Decent quaff. compares well with the best impy stouts and porters. I need to try more from this brewery.

Tap at the Washington Street location - dark brown pour with a soapy lace - soft carbonation, medium body - quite sweet, with notes of vanilla crème, blueberry, chocolate - black malt bitterness and roast arrive late, but never entirely balance the sweetness - finish of lightly spicy Turkish coffee - it’s good, but I like the barrel-aged iteration better/
