40 cL from tap at brewpub. Black/red colour with white creamy head. The way too cold served beer has berries in its initial aroma. Carbonated feel. Taste is berries and malty. Very mild. Bitter dry finish. Takes some time to warm up, but sadly the smoke is even then too discrete. Good but not what I had expected from the description.

100ml enjoyed at the brewpub in Copenhagen. Clear, very dark body. Filmy layer. Rather poor in aroma but some hints of smoky malts come through. Moderate smoky flavours with bacon notes. Watery (13.01.2007).

Medium light brown fine-laced head. Deep brown body with some red, almost opaque. Deep burnt malt aroma with some sweetness and a touch of caramel. Taste is nicely balanced soft burntness with faint wood, caramel, and charcoal. Aftertaste is dry and burnt. A good schwarz. (0.25l on tap.)

(On tap) Completely black with a weak reddish hue. Very small off-white head. Roasted - slightly burned - aroma. Fruity, berry-like flavours with light notes of burned malt. No real bitterness. Very pleasant if not exactly traditional Schwarzbier. 041005

Sweet, roasted aroma with a hint of swet liquorice. Almost black colour, with a reddish shine. Nicely mild, roasted, caramelly flavour. Very nice.

Pitch black beer with a purplish shine; brownish small head (drunk under bad conditions). Very sweet, malty, (sweet & burned); caramel & brown sugar. Much nicer taste, roasted & scorched flavours (smoked?...), good amalgam of black grains and barley. Finishes sweet again. Very sticky feel, like amylum (!) in water, effects from the brown malts. Reasonable Schwarzbier, just a tad too sweet, certainly in the nose. Thanks to Jacob & Martin.

Sampled draught at the brewpub. Very dark brown. Roasty coffee aroma.. Lots of chocolate, but no smoke detected. Despite the low carbonation the mouthfeel remains clean, and it does not have the same malt depth as Franconian brewer has. Low bitterness.

A deep red beer with a collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted and malty. The flavor is sweet malty adn very roasted - notes of roasted bread. The end is dry with light notes of smoke, that lingers for a long time as a dryness. A nice beer - but as all beers from Nørrebro Bryghus it is served too cold.
