750 ml bottle picked up at the Ratman 20K party. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, roast, and a hint of bourbon. Black with a medium, lightly lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is lightly sweet chocolate and malty roast from the syrupy body.

Tulip at the brewery - deep black pour with a moderate, soapy, dark tan lace - nose of charred oak, smoke, chocolate, licorice - slick mouthfeel and hefty body - the ability of this brewer to create such strong beers that are still, in their way, elegant and aren’t insanely boozy continues to be impressive - quite sweet, but balanced by the barrel and late savory/umami character which will certainly make this a divisive beer, but which I quite like - spicy finish, lingering oak and smoke - quite nice, especially on this snowy Denver day.
