Sample at the taproom. Clear dark ruddy amber color with a medium white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, dark fruit and yeast. Full-bodied and syrupy with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruits and earthy yeast. The finish is fruity with a raisin and malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tap at the brewery - turbid amber - nearly headless - aroma and flavors of fig, dough/yeast, raisin, maraschino cherries, booze/rum - a fair amount of heat in the finish, but not any more than I would expect from the abv - low carbonation with a kind of slick mouthfeel - stale hop character - meh.
