Cask - cloudy gold - it’s tough to pull off wood-aged IPA - having the base beer side by side is interesting - the wood has dulled quite a bit of the brightness and bitterness of the hops, but their citric and tropical flavors are still there, complimented well by the moderate toasted coconut imparted by the oak - what makes the base beer so great is its crispness, but this is much softer around the edges - earthier - it’s still good, and the oak works much better with the hol flavor than in many other wood-aged ipas.
