Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe. The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Pours muddy brown in glass. Nose is malts and some resins. Taste is almost all dry malt. Pretty dry overall.

Grabbed a bottle on walk home from train station along with two other beers i hadn’t tried, one tragically cracked open in my bag making it a soggy 2 mile walk home. Pours a light amber color. Its dry, slightly bitter, with some earthiness. Maybe some subtle fruit tones and some hops. This screams Britain to me and is pleasant enough for a hot April Fools Day.

Organic english ale Pint glass out of a bottle. Beautiful redish-orange, clear color with a massive full and chunky head. Aromas of bread, sweet malt, some grassy hops. Mouthfeel is medium-thin and has a slick glide across the tongue at first, but lingers for a while and ends with a full-ish sense from the barley. Nice malt on the front leads to bread, biscuit and granite on the finish - the barley is really present - and some hops are present as well.

Clear amber-tinted copper coloured body with a thin (one centimetre) slightly off-white head. Decent looking, nothing special though. Aroma of fruit, raisins, pit fruits, caramel, malt and a touch of hops. Medium-bodied; Malty flavour up front with an odd cereal taste in the middle along with a nutty finish. Aftertaste shows caramel, pit fruits and an overwhelmingly bitter malt taste - no hops at all. Overall, a decent beer - not amazing by any means, but not horrible either. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from the LCBO (Summerhill) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 11-October-2009, sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 24-October-2009.

Very nice and appealing aroma of breadiness and barley that makes the brew definitely inviting. Looks good, nice brown colour, could likely use more head. I like this flavour - bready but fruity, some sweet notes and citrusy hints, slightly dry finish but not too dry. Feels okay on the mouth. A really good ale overall and definitely worth a little attention.

Nice copper color. Fruity hop aroma. Thin malt flavor, with a bit of caramel and fruit, yet decent hopping. Good enough but unexciting and too light.

50cl bottle at home. cloudy orange, small offwhite head. aroma is dominatd by bitterhops , caramel and toffee. faint smoke or burned plastic. not very appetizing. flavor is caramelly, herbal, bitterhoppy, faint sawdust. much better than aroma, a little too bittersweet for my taste though.

500 ml bottle. Clear, dark amber body with a medium but dense off-white head. Aroma is light malty, slightly burnt caramel and floor sealing. Flavor is sweet malty and caramel with a discreet bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth but rather boring.
