Cask from The White Horse, Chelmsford. Former Champion Beer of Great Britain, this is a consistently good dark mild. Ruby black, very smooth, with a lightly roasted aroma. Creamy texture a little reminiscent of melted ice cream. Very good overall.

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours red-brown with a lasting, beige cream head. Dark, toasty-bready malt nose. Medium sweet flavor with dark, bready malts and very light toffee. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, well balanced, with more dark and toasty bread, faint chocolate, mild bitterness. Delicious stuff.

Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a bubbly tan head. Caramel, toffee, treacle, tobacco and a little smoke on the nose. Tastes of dark malt, toffee, nutty, light liqourice tones and some biscuit. Great feel to this mild, medium bodied, smooth but not at all thin or watery for a 3.7% beer. A great mild.

[Cask at Chippenham BF] Deep amber-brown with a light fizz. Chocolate and a little liquorice turns to coffee and smoke in the deeply roasted (for a mild) dry finish. Lovely mild. c8

Cask @ Duke of York, Ipswich. Near black with a thin head. Has some mildly spiced dark maltiness, but remains as a pleasant mild though.
