A wonderfully mellow, nutty, morish dark mild. Brewed using Maris Otter Pale, Crystal and Black malts and gently hopped with Challenger.

Cask at GBBF 2011, 3rd day. Roasty coffee, dark chocolate nose. Pretty black with lace. Flavors of milk chocolate, wood, café au lait. Very mild and tasty with a light body. Nice stuff.

Warning! Early amateur rating! On tap at the Sun Inn, Kelvedon. Dark dark beer. Pleasantly malty with a hint of fruit. Lingering finish with contrasting sweet and bitter notes.

An earnest brew served up at GBBF ’10, very important I find. Very dark brown pour with a beige head. Coffee, caramel, malty nose. Rich flavours of chocolate, (camp)coffee and toffee. Very smooth. Slight bitterness in the finish. Good stuff.

Cask at the CASK Pub & Kitchen on 31 July 2010. Clear, dark brown with small grey foam head. Aroma of sweet fruits/fruitcake, burnt roasted malts in main kick with tinges of smokiness, and a bittersweet slightly smoky finish. Mouthfeel is smooth to light. A delicious mild, worth seeking out.

Cask-conditioned. Black coloured with a moderate tan head. Roasted malt and bitter chocolate aroma. Light mouth feel, with flavours of more chocolate and fruit. Good.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 8 Aug 2007) Dark brown colour with brief pale brown head. Malty nose with roasted notes of coffee, chikory and dark fruit. Roasted taste with wild berries, coffee and a nice coffeeish bitterness in the finish. Thin body, but with more bitterness than most milds. Very tasty mild, one of the better I’ve tried.
