Bottled. Black with a light brown, medium sized head. Weak roast aroma with toffee and caramel and licorice. The roast flavour has notes of smoke and charcoal, and a long lasting burned aftertaste. Seemed a little thin for that rich flavour.

Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, strong coffee, coal. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. (Coal / burnt bitter). Body is medium, texture is oily, syrupy, carbonation is soft to flat.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate and caramel, as well as light notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and chocolate, like ice cream topping, combined with a light note of licorice. Nice, but the body is a bit thin.

500ml bottle from Harveyโ€™s Brewery shop. Black colour with tan head. Nice roasted aroma, in fact very roasted malt aroma. Really quite rich. Some charcoal, liquorice on aroma. Very intense, smoothish in mouth, then slightly sour damson charcoal finish. Lots of overly roasted malt. Too burnt. Bit too obvious for me and a little loss of balance in the middle of the beer.
