Gravity cask at Anspach & Hobday/Bullfinch taproom. Pours black-brown with a frothy khaki head. The aroma holds some burnt pine, baking cocoa, earth and burnt toast. Light to medium sweet flavor with oily burnt pine, scorched earth, rich baking cocoa, some chocolate syrup, raisins. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Bitter scorched earth finish with lots of burnt pine, earth, bittersweet chocolate. Minimal ’cereal’ character. Really tasty overall, robust and fairly complex. Good hops. Great stuff overall.
