The brewery’s flagship beer. Well rounded, ruby red ale with a distinctive, tight creamy head. A good balance of malt, hops and bitterness.

6/6/2018. Cask at the Head of Steam, Quayside. Pours dark amber ruby brown with a lasting creamy beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, malt, caramel, light toasting, biscuit, hops, toffee and berries. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, hint of sour. Medium plus body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

21st Aug 2016: cask pint in ’Cobblers’ a micro bar in Filey, Yorkshire. Decent looking beer: ruby red body, off-white foaming head. Malts lead the way here, semi-sweet caramel notes throughout form the base for this fruity brew. Good balance between the fruitiness and the maltiness: my sweet tooth liking it from the start.

Cask at the Prince Albert, Ely. Ruby brown, clear with a small head. Malt aroma with hint if forest floor. Very sweet, very malty taste. More of the same in the slightly chalky finish. Ok.

Cask at the Rose and Crown, Sandhurst. An attractive copper colour with a loose cream head; floral, lightly malted aroma; fruity, strawberry taste, with some light carmael; and a dry, fresh finish. I was quite taken by this, it was a light, summery, refined bitter, not what I was expecting - makes me wonder if there was a mix up with the lines at the pub.
