pretty pathetic attempt at a fairly easy style. sam adams should know better, you would think that a brewery that is doing this well with their lager and seasonals could go a little farther outside the mainstream with something like a pale ale. everyone does a pale ale, why not make something distinctive that shows everyone that they can make some really unbelieveable beer while at the same time making their mass appeal beers. this is just really pathetic, no imagination or interesting usae of flavors, hops, or malts, boring and macro-like.

Pours golden, white head. Aroma, hoppy, grassy/vegy like nose, malty and dough. Flavor, grassy hops, followed by malt base that is signature of Sam Adams. Overall profile has a lingering bitter maltiness. Found the finish to be overly bitter, and sub par to the regular boston lager. Drinks with a thin dough finish and overly bitter leaving a thick metallic after taste.

12 oz bottle. I like my pale ales American, not English, thank you very much, mister Samuel Adams, brewer *patriot*. For a company called Samuel Adams, named after one of the leaders in the American Revolution, to create a pale ale in the English style rather than the American one, is extremely ironic to me. I prefer my pales in the hoppy, bitter American style rather than the more malty English style. (Note to all Britons: I love your porters and stouts! Some of the best in the world! Just not a fan of the English pale.) Smells of toffee, has a thin head. Not one of Sam Adams’ best.

Bottle thanks to m4est88. Pours with a clear golden body and a small, fading white head. Aroma is malty and grainy with subdued english hops, noticeable fruitiness, honey and some sweet, bread like notes. Taste is lightly hoppy with a slight grain astringency. Boring but not offensive; very drinkable! Thin body with strongish carbonation. Not horrible in anyway.

Overall Impression: An alright pale that offers some of the similar characteristics you would associate with EPAs, but with an American touch (aka some additional hop characteristics). This one works alright...

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet grain but not very strong. Taste is a bit bitter with some hops and malt. Not overly impressive.

Pours gold int a shaker. Bright white head. Mildly sour hop aromas. Slightly flat leans toward malts rather than hops.

Bottle. One-finger, frothy white head. Clear dark yellow body. The aroma is more malty than hoppy with lots of grain and some light caramel notes. Behind that are some floral and grassy hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is lightly bitter with a lingering taste of grain. Medium body and a watery texture. Lively carbonation. Not quite clean enough to call it crisp and refreshing. Hops could be more forward.

12oz bottle....pours a nice amber color with a small cream colored head...a sweet clean aroma...a little citrus & a mild grassy scent--a tad of caramel shows up on a deep sniff....refreshing light body...citrus (fresh)...a little malt, tasty but nothing special...hoppy caramel light bitter finish

Bottle: Nice hoppy aroma with a bit of citrus and floral. Flavor is aptly hoppy, some underlying caramel malt. Nice floral bitters trailer. A pleasant suprise and something to look forward to when pickens are slim.
