Malzig-milder Antrunk, etwas kaffeeartig. Danke an DerDoppelbock hierfür! 13/11/11/12/9/11

Bottle Deep, black body. Lightly brown, small head. Aroma of malts (coffee, chocolate), molasses, hints of liquor, ... Quite nice aroma, not to 1 dimensional for a stout. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Heavily bitter finish, quite hoppy. Strange the aroma isn’t hoppy, but the finish is full of hops (Cascade, German hops). Off course there are also a lot of malts in the flavour. Anyway I would say this is a Stouty IPA. The balance is not totally ok and complexity lacks a bit, but still it is quite ok.

Bottle. What a beauty to look at. It pours oily and black, with a dense, tan head that’s lasting. I prefer my girls quite pale, but my stouts should be as black as this one, yummy! The aroma is slightly dusty, but mostly roasted and burnt with a nice touch of licorice and chocolate. Some hops in there too. Lovely sweet, yet roasted and dry flavor with licorice, some tar, bitterness, a little coffee, and I think there’s some dried fruits as well. Oily in the mouth, maybe a bit thin, but then it’s only 6% ABV. BTW, it’s not thin, only not as thick and chewy as I expected. It finishes with a lasting, coffee-bitter flavor. Gimme more! (071123)

Courtesy of after4ever and shared with after4ever and bitbucket. Pours deep dark with nice light brown head. The aroma is burnt malts, roasted malts, ground coffee beans and a hint of chocolate malts. It starts out with both burnt malts and coffee beans. By midway the flavor smoothes out with the addition of roasted malts and licorice. Toward the finish the burnt malts grow and leave a burnt to coffee sense into the after taste. Really nice flavor notes that smoothly glide out into the flavor horizon.

(Bottle) Pitch black colour with brief, dark brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of strong, black coffee, chocolate, liquorice and citrussy hops. Roasted, malty taste with strong flavours of black bitter coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, tar, liquorice and citrussy hops in a bitter finish. Full body, oily texture. Powerful, uncompromising beer with loads of taste, balancing on the verge of being too much, but staying on the right side all the way. Lovely!

50 cL bottle (batch 251). Pours black with a 1 cm tall thick creamy brown head. Thick liqourice aroma with coffee, roasted malt and chocolate notes. Thick mouthfeel, but not as thick as their winter stout. Tar like flavour, thick of liqourice sharpness, chocolate softness, coffee and hops bitterness. Small citric note is breaking the heavy flavours. Long lasting finish of chocolate and bitterness.

Pours a dark black oily beer with a glow-in-the-dark brown head. I’m almost expecting an oily imperial stout now, just as the OL, which was fantastic. Aroma of coffee, caramel malt, loads of roasted malt, rye, licorice, some salami, chocolat. Thick and bit creamy body. The roasted malts flow like a wave through the mouth. Also some sharp licorice hints. Finishes very roasty bitter.
