dark golden, hoppy and smoky. Reminded me of smoked bacon/pork, one hell of a kick to it. Defenitaly a unique taste. Sharing a bottle is enough for me. Enjoying the smoked taste might take some getting used to.

Bottle, 22oz. A hazy golden pour yields a dense, off-white head with long duration. BBQ-smoked nose with a bacon-like note, and malty aroma. Not much hops fighting its way through. Smoked flavor too, but not as smoked as the aroma. There’s also caramel and malt, as well as a little fruityness. Surprisingly thin body, tending towards watery. The finish is rather short and smoked, but some fruity hops and bitterness lasts longer, quite subdued though. Sure not a bad beer, but I would go for other smoked or Rogue beers before this one. 22oz bottle-pours a big foamy light tan head and slightly hazy copper/brown color. Aroma is medium malt-smoky, Pac man yeast. Taste is smoky, medium malt, slight spice. OK carbonation. Nicely done, not my style. Nice to try one time. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

Sample, at the Mondial de la bière 2007, savoured May 31 2007; eye: copper, creamy beige head, clear, no effervescence; nose: smoke dominates completely, concentrated; mouth: all in smoke, finale all in smoke with a hint of bitterness, light astringency, creamy texture, full body, average carbonation, mildly bitter, light acidity; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Échantillon, bue au Mondial de la bière 2007, savourée le 31 mai 2007; oeil : cuivrée, mousse beige crémeuse, claire, pas d’effervescence; nez : fumée domine complètement, intense; bouche : toute en fumée, finale toute en fumée avec une belle pointe d’amertume, astringence légère, texture crémeuse, corsée, carbonatation moyenne, moyennement amère, légère acidité; en résumé : correct

Bomber. Strong smoked cheese aroma. Coppery color with a beige head that is very large. Smells a bit like chipotle as the glass approaches the lips. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, smoke flavor, some sweet malt, some smoked meat, a hint of hot spice. Really good. Goes great with spicy enchiladas.

Bottle. Amber coloured with moderate, off-white head. Aroma of smoked ham and burnt toffee. Flavour was moderately smokey with a light mouth feel and dry finish. Good, but there’s better in Bamberg.
