Cloudy tea brown, essentially no head. Scent is malty, caramel, juniper. Taste is sweet, prune, caramel, bread. Very flat... Probably better if a little more lively bodied....

33 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 07.02.2009
Aroma is somewhat sweet and malty with juniper, berries and some vegetables. Flavour is malty with caramel, some juniper, metal, berries and vegetable notes. Too messy.

From a bottle enjoyed in Avon NC. Pours an opaque reddish amber with a feint, almost non existent, head. Interesting aroma evokes grape koolaid. Flavor is a different story entirely. First a sour and funky, almost lambic like, taste washes through, followed by the juniper notes with some hints of white pepper. Short tart finish. Definitely unique, not closely similar to anything I have had before. Probably an acquired taste -- much like Belgian sour beers. However, rather than growing on me, the more I drank of it the less I liked it.

No head, flat-looking and ugly. The nose is distinct and strong, sour and sweet and mildly acrid, not good but curious. Tastes insane, with a honey-sweet maltiness coupled with lemon-tart sour and a toasted, woodsy, herbal-honey finish that would definitely be nicer with a few bubbles. I can’t go so far as saying I like it, but this beer is history in a bottle, so I dig what it represents.

11.2 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy amber color with particles that settle on the bottom. Nearly no head. Aroma of toffee, caramel and faint notes of dried fruits. The taste is sweet malts, raisins, and a faintly herbal finish. Medium bodied. Reminds me of a bad baltic lager. Not a good beer. 6/1/10.

Bottle labeled Kataja Olut. Pours dark hazy amber color with almost no head. Fruity aroma and kind of funky, but not necessarily in a good way. Sour, tart and fruity cranberry flavor. Medium body with no carbonation. I wouldn’t recommend trying this.
