Modeled after the long-standing Kölsch traditions of Köln (Cologne), Germany, we are proud to introduce our newest Kölsch-style beer, Zappes. An homage to the tapsters who so perfectly fill one Stange glass after another with Kölsch, Zappes pours a picturesque pale-golden color with a structured white head. Lightly fruity on the nose from its unique yeast strain and with a balanced malt presence on the palate, this ale-lager hybrid is best enjoyed over multiple rounds.

Brewed with German Pilsner and a small amount of Vienna malt, Zappes is lightly hopped with Tettnanger and Hersbrucker and fermented with a traditional Kölsch ale strain. Spunded for natural carbonation, lagered for over four weeks, and filtered for beautiful clarity, Zappes will be available starting this Friday on draught across our campus and in 4-packs to go. Prost!

Can to stange.
Appearance: clear yellow/golden color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which settled off at a nice pace to leave some light lace
Aroma: sweet to rustic grains with some honey and a touch of clean skunky/earthy whiffs - the skunkiness seems to dissipate in time and seems more or less just barely a memory if that
Flavor: runs into a fine sweet to earthy spiced quality with a tickle of some biscuity/breadiness in a back wave; finishes crisp, malty and sweet with a touch of spice
Texture: light to medium bodied; very sessionable; very smooth along the tongue; good carb level; and just a wee bit of stickiness but nothing bothersome
Overall: pretty good Kolsch even if I did get a little bit of skunkiness in the beginning but even that seemed nondescript enough for nothing to worry about. I'd come back to this.

Bright kolsch yeast and herbal hopping with light honey and various rustic grain. Rich and balanced. Delicate, clean.
Brightly bitter, malty and dry with excellent yeast notes. Rustic grains, honey, and a snappy finish. Simple. so well-done.

Pours clear gold into a willi. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Hay and straw aromas. Crisp with sweet hay and orange smarties upfront turning to earthy bark in the medium length finish.
