Our Brown Ale is the first beer we started making at the brewery in 2001, after making soft drinks since 1997. Fortunately it was such a success that it won an organic gold medal in 2002. After that, there was no holding us back in our beer adventure. Brown Ale is a full-bodied, creamy beer made with American hops. They lend the beer a delightful, yet discreet citrus-fruit aroma alongside caramelised and toasted malt. It tastes sweet and rich with notes of toffee, chocolate, coffee and liquorice with a mellow sweetness and mild, hoppy bitterness.

Smaksprøve i Nyhavn nov-18: klar brunlig nesten uten skum. Fint krydret brown ale med kardemomme og kanel i tillegg til de vanlige brown ale karakteristika. Denne utgaven var brygget som Nyhavns eget juleøl "Nyhavns juleøl".

Pours just slighty hazy, coppery brown color, topped with a medium sized beige head. Gentle malty nose, actually very held back. Medium sweet malty start, slightly roasty with medium bitterness. Light body. Not too good.

Bottle, 0.33l. Deep ruby pour, one finger soapy beige head. Low retention, persistent thin layer leaving some lacing. Nose is quite malty, caramel and augar notes, seems a bit on the sweet side. Some charred notes in the background. Thin body. Medium to high carbonation, very prickly on the tongue. Light mouthfeel and texture. Balanced bittersweet taste, definitely not as sweet as nose suggested. Aroma mostly malty, caramel and toffee, slightly roasted. Herbal. Some hops later on adding more bitterness towards the finish. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Medium to long finish, somewhat bitter. Overall, good one. Perhaps lacking some more depth or complexity but as it is it's very drinkable and surprisingly decent. Ok.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Slightly nuttily, dark malty aroma, a touch of toffee, cautious hints of liquorice. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, notes of toffee, a nuttily touch, additional hints of liquorice in the finish. Simple, OK.
