ACME CALIFORNIA BROWN ALE is creamy smooth after the style made famous in the north of England. It's toasty with hints of cherry and black currant. Acme Brown is brewed according to tradition with high dried and brown malt, and lightly finished with the Noble hops Tettnang and Hallertauer. The result is a very drinkable beer that can be enjoyed for an entire evening.

Muddy colored ale with slightly nutty aftertaste. Turns sweeter but finishes drab. Unremarkable.

Bottled. Amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malts, mild syrup as well as some slight hopping as well. Flavour is brown sugar, caramel malts, mild syrupy notes as well as some floral and fruity hops. Balanced, but not that exciting.

I found it didn’t have a lot of flavour, though it certainly wasn’t unpleasant. I much prefer the red Seal from North coast. Bottle in Taipei, Taiwan

Bottle at Cockney Pub, Århus. A slightly hazy brown beer with a small, beige head. Lovely chocolate and roasted aroma with some fruityness to give it some balance. Chocolate start on the flavor, with some roasted malt showing up quickly, and getting company of a nice balancing fruityness with some citrus. Not much bitterness. Smooth, medium mouthfeel, quite low on co2. Really pleasant, smooth and easy to drink. (080517)

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy brown with a creamy and slowly diminishing light tan head. Loads of malt and overripe fruity notes. Caramel malt towards toffee flavoured. Showing a light overripe fruit note. Bitterness from the hops is slowly showing through the dense malt flavours. Light bitterness into the finish.

Rated October 2006. 12oz bottle pours with a clear amber-ish to brown colored body that supports a long lasting thin off white head of foam. Aroma is light with caramel and pale malts. Flavor seems to follow the aroma with sweet caramel malts and more grain like pale malts. There is just a hint of (maybe) citrus hops about midway to the finish. Nice brew for the style.
