Sampled on cask at Piper's this beer poured a very dark brown color with red highlights and a huge soapy beige head that lingered but left minimal lacing. The aroma was toasty, woody, very nutty with caramel, cocoa, coffee and dark fruit. The flavor was bitterish, toasty, woody and very nutty with caramel, coffee, cocoa and a hint of dark fruit. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth. Well done.

2007 Draft.....Well this seems to be out of retirement...Pours a dark mahogany, with a non-lasting off white head....mild aromas of toffee and malt...flavor is brown sugar with molasses essences, sweet and light...the sweetness hurts my teeth for a second (I have sensitive teeth)...weak coffee- caramel finish....still good in 2008 growler tasting
