(Draught at Lord Nelson, Copenhagen, 18 Feb 2012) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, dark fruit and dark cherries. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, red berries and spicy hops in the finish. Medium body, with a slight malt sweetness. Very well balanced and quite tasty. Nice one. (A bit confusing this, since no one seem to have had it for almost three years. Or could this have been the Julebryg with a different label? If someone knows more, please let me know.)

50 cL bottle, tasted both in 2005 and again 2007 (rather a bit past BBD). Pours unclear brown/amber with a small off-white head. Caramel and slight roasted aroma. Sweet flavour of caramel and roasted malt. Clear Svaneke yeast flavour, which seems rather gone in the other and new brews from Svaneke. Good bitterness in the finish. Reminds me a bit of Stormands øl.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Lighly roasted malt aroma. Rather full body with accents of roasted malt and chocolate - actually a LOT of chocolate as it warms. Some honey accents also and a rather solid bitterness in the finish.Typical somewhat rustic Svaneke character, and not a very clean brew at all, but this really grows on me. 280606

Dark amber color; big creamy head. Very nice aroma, malty with notes of milk chocolate, cocoa beans, burnt sugar. Medium body structure, but fairly good balance of malt, caramel and bitterness. Some mixed caramel and bitterness in the palate. Very enjoyable Dunkel.

Bottled. Very dark red. Aroma of rubber and roasty malt. Sweet and lightly yeasty with rounded mouthfeel. The hop rate is fairly low, which leaves the finish wide open for a minor touch of lactic acid to dominate.

A hazy deep red beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel. The flavor is just like the rest of the beers from Svaneke: sweet with notes of caramel, straw, and yeast. I suspect reason for the beers being very alike is the yeast used.
