La Terrible is a dark brown beer on lees and is part of a collection of exotic and refined Unibroue beers brewed using 100% natural raw materials. It may be drunk as an aperitif or as an after dinner digestive. It is equally a perfect accompaniment to the above-mentioned dishes or a pleasant alternative to coffee.

Total Wine & More, Fairfax 750ml ($10): Pours a dark brown with a beige head type thing. Aroma is winy, with a whole bunch of yeast and a bunch of fruitiness mingled up in there. Taste is complex. The fruitiness is in some sense unique, with a bunch of different flavors acting up. Pretty easy drinking considering the rather high alcohol content. Quite a nice beer, but a little terrible.

750ml from Westroads poured into my Chimay Trappist glass. Bottle says best before 4/15/2015. Pours a dark black with a minimal amount of head. Aroma of apple and fermented fruit. Almost smells like a nice, dry merlot wine. Taste is lightly sweet. Slightly citrus, slightly spicy, and heavily apple tasting. Medium bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Explosive carbonation with a very long, alcoholic finish. Overall, very good. Definitely something I’ll drink again.

Bottle. Poured black with beige head. Much lacing. Aroma is fruit, roast, caramel. Caramel and fruity full body. Doesn’t taste as strong as it is. Spice, brown sugar and plum finish.

Big beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes dark brown body. Sugary papery caramelly aroma with oily toffee notes. Dry-sweet oily banana alcohol taste with soy sauce notes. Fullish body. Hot mouthfeel. Dryish spicy mealy roasty aftertaste with banana and cardamom notes. Quite nice, but not great. Unusual. (0.75l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

I love unibroue 75cl corked and caged bottles. Opens with a big pang, but never foams over or gushes. Great!!. clear dark brown, smooth light brown head. tart fruity and dark caramelly aroma. flavor is caramel, alc. bite. lots of alc. bite. faint flowery. faint toffee. way too much alc. for my taste, considering there is not much flavor in the brew.

Bottle 2004 Vintage thanks to JohnGault1. Pours out a brown with some red highlights topped with a tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, maple syrup, and pit fruits. Taste more of the sweetness takes over and a little spice helps pull it together. A very tasty Belgian Strong Ale. Thanks Toby

Oh yeah... very smoooth ! This fine Unibroue product pours a very dark brown colour with red highlights. A thick creamy tanned head erects and stays for a long time. Lacing is left on the side, uniform, and a 3mm layer coats the brew. The aroma is very mild, but berries are present with notes of nuts. Roasted malts are also there at first pour. Mouthfeel is smooooth and creamy. The taste is mostly berries. Cherries at the start, and then the tart kicks in. Long tarty lingering aftertaste. Raspberries, blueberries, plums are fruits that come to mind. Slight nut in the finish. A very good brew, hard hitting and like said... smooooth.

750ml bottle, 14C (better as it warmed), BB 2013. Very dark brown with a small light tan head. Nose of dark fruits and earth. Tastes lightly sweet with mysterious dank and peppery/ leafy spices. Complex fruity taste includes apples as well as red berries and sour oranges. Less Porty and more spicy than Troi Pistoles. Prickling carbonation. Noticeably boozy but not raw. Fruity but dry finish. Elegant and full of character. Less approachable than other strong beers I’ve tried from this brewer. Likely to keep well for a while, but good now.
