Dark brown/black body is clear, with a tan head that is quite fluffy but recedes to ring fairly steadily.
I will say that despite this being a very well-malted, well-textured beer, with the coffee aspect not being overdone at all, there was a rather pervasive element of black licorice, seemingly phenolic, that pestered the aroma and flavor, and produced a near-astringent dryness on the finish.
The aroma was medium-sweet, with light fudginess from the chocolate and base malts and a strong suit of dark, moderately roasted malt. The coffee complemented the nose without dominating and the hops were juicy and green, rather fragrant, but not overly bitter or dominating. Along with the phenols, I seemed to note a touch of fusel sharpness upon warming/breathing. Chocolate and vanilla grow stronger as well, as the beer warms.
A thick, creamy body, with touches of oiliness from the coffee and/or dark malts, with a strong sense of chocolate and vanilla sweetness followed by lightly smokey coffee that seems almost harshly black, as it mixes with the dark malts on the finish to produce a strong drying effect. Carbonation is low, but ample, with the attenuation medium and possibly a touch too much sweetness, for my taste anyways (and it must be way too sweet if young). Some alcohol warmth, and that recurring black licorice note on the end as well. I’ll chalk that up to drinking it with probably more age than intended, and definitely make a point to try it again. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of chocolat and coffee. Chocolaty stout taste as well. Slight bitter in the end. Probably the best beer of GB.

Bottled. A very dark brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is very strongly chocolaty - milk chocolate, but also with lighter notes of coffee, and some oranges, and violets. The flavor is quite sweet, but at the same time very dry and woody, with very strong notes of hard roasted malt, combined with a smooth chocolate note, and bitter coffee notes, the end is even drier with notes of both chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt lingering for a long time. The body is quite strong. Nice.

Black with a creamy tan head. Malt, chocolate and plum aromas. Sweet, slightly roasted and with a lingering bitterness. Full bodied and a creamy mouthfeel.

Thick black with white/browny head. Aroma and taste of roasted malts. Soft texture. Chocolate & coffee. Fine lacings on the glass. Fine dominant hop finish. Actually good quite powerfull bite. One of the better products from the brewery! Great! Rerate September - 09. Roasty, ashy, dusty, fine coffee and synthetic chocolate. Smooth. Ok roasted and sticky end. 3,6 - 3,4

Bottle. Black with red outlines. A creamy beige head. Aroma is roasted, coffee, some toffee and chocolate. Low to medium carbonated. Nice bitter flavor, malt, and chocolate/coffee notes. Long finish.

Bottle. Nice tan head with good duration. Color id dark ruby to black. Aroma is roast malt and chocolate. Taste is matl and chocolate with good long finish.
