On DFDS Ferry Dana Sirena, heading from Harwich to Esbjerg 10-09-08 Pours dark brown moving to light chestnut at edges. Med’ carbonation slight off white head soft in mouth, bitterness only shows towards end, good gentle roastedness over enthusiastic chilling has rather blunted the aroma. My first taste of Danish prices as this was £5.73 a bottle, gulp, good job I liked it.

Bottle. Clear, ruby pour with a small, beige head. Coffee, chocolate and heavily roasted malt in the aroma, as well as a little touch of salty licorice and fruit. Medium body, and a lightly sweet flavor. There’s coffee, roasted malt, some alcohol, and a little note of licorice as well. Dry finish with coffee and some alcohol and fruits. A really nice one from Fanø, the only thing I miss is a little more fruityness, but it’s a schwarzbier, so I didn’t expect it too much. (070711)

Dark brown with a disappearing off-white head. Caramel and weak toffee aroma. Sweet caramel flavour and absolutely no aftertaste. Not really a scwarzbier, not really a porter, not really interesting.

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with huge light brown, creamy and crispy head. Aroma of sweet and roasted malt, going into a dried fruit sweetness. Flavour is dark malt, liqourice, slight citric. Surprisingly it is not really sweet in the flavour. Rather dry finish.
