Brooklyner Weisse is a Bavarian-style wheat beer, unfiltered and chock full of spicy esters that evoke hints of cloves and fruit, some say even bananas. The beer is made with a traditional weizen yeast strain. The malt mix is half malted wheat and half barley malt. The hops are Perle, from Germany. Bitterness is low to medium.

Draft at brewery. Pours a hazy cloudy yellow. Taste is fruity w/some spices. I was pleasantly surprised by this, and very much enjoyed it.

Keg at the bottle shop. Aroma is floral, pollen, grainy wheaty. Hazed golden straw coloured pour with a lasting halo of white head. Flavour is doughy, wheat, orange peel, crisp, not much sour. Palate is crisp light and a bit watery. Doughy. Under whelming. I though this was supposed to be a Berliner by the name.

Keg at Bottle Shop, Bermondsey. It pours lightly hazy gold with an average white head. The nose is soft, mild sweetness, wheat, grainy and cat litter. The taste is sweet, doughy, wheat, grassy, herbal, wheat and sugar with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty basic.

Langweiliger, süßlich bananiger Beginn. Dann etwas bitter, das Bananenaroma bleibt bestehen. Um Ende ist davon nicht mehr viel übrig, wässrig, laff. 11/8/9/8//8

Pours a hazy golden color with a very frothy, white head. The aromas are of bananas, cloves, bubble-gum, and yeast. Tastes a bit tangy then sweetmalt with lots of clove and spiciness. Very crisp and clean. A solid weizen that could very well had come from Bavaria.

Sample at the brewery taproom. Slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of wheat, banana and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of spicy wheat, bananas and toasted malt. The finish is sweet with a banana aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
