Winter Warmer is 100% malt brew, with Maris Otter and Crystal malt combining Fuggle and Golding hops. Young’s unique cane sugar mix is added to the copper during the brewing process.
A welcome sight on the bar during the winter months, Winter Warmer is the ideal beer to cosy up with in front of a pub fire on a cold winter’s night.

Cask at the wharf. A small, beige head sits on top of a clear chestnut body. The aroma has roasted malts and a hint of coffee, as well as toffee and dried fruits. A bit thin on the palate maybe. Roasted malts, dried fruits, toffee and a little bitterness in the flavor, roasted malts and toffee in the end. A pleasant one indeed, but lacks a bit on body to go as a winter beer for me. 101204

Cask @ The Wharf, Aalborg. Clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruity, malty, nutty and almost perfumy. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sticky mouthfeel. This is not a winter warmer, though is fairness it was served way too cold. 251210

Cask. Clear orangey brown with a rough off-white head. Nuts and caramel in the nose. Medium body, low carbonation, roasted malt, nuts and caramel with a lightly musty touch. Surprisingly good hop finish. 281110

From cask at Charlies. Pours golden deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is fruity and malty. Breadish and slight fruity flavoured. Rather bitter and dry into the finish. Bitter and dry finish. Lasting malt note.

From notes. Cask. Bury, 1997. Deep reddish brown color with a thin tan head that disappears slowly and leaves scant lacing. Aroma of raisins and plums. Taste is on the sweet side, good body, lots of dark fruits. Decent.

Cask at The Rising Sun, Pimlico, London. Deep brown/ruby pour with a thin beige head. Aroma of dark fruit. Sweet, roasty, caramel, nutty, quite rich tasting. This beer is much thinner than it used to be. Still quite pleasant and warming but I remember when this beauty was brewed at Wandsworth and it really was worth looking forward too. Youngs of Bedford is now a shadow of its former self, all in the name of money, what a shame.

Cask-conditioned at the Bristol Ram, Bristol. Chestnut coloured with a moderate off-white head. Caramel, malty aroma with some fruit in the background. Flavour was sweet, with toffee, nuts and a hint of roastiness. Good.
