Originally formed in 1831, the Young family maintained a majority and controlling stake in the brewing production until 2006 when the historic Ram Brewery in Wandsworth was closed and Young’s merged its brewing operations with Charles Wells in Bedford to form Wells & Young's Brewing Company (60% Wells / 40% Young's).
Young's sold its remaining 40% stake in the brewing company to Charles Wells (Eagle Brewery) in August 2011 exiting the beer production business entirely to focus on owning and operating pubs.
The Eagle Brewery and beer brands including Young's were acquired by Marstons PLC in 2017.
Marstons merged with Carlsberg in 2020. The Eagle Brewery was sold to the Spanish brewer Damm in 2022, with Carlsberg Marston retaining ownership of the brands.
Carlsberg's purchased the remaining Marston share in 2024, and Carlsberg Britvic was formed in 2025. Young's beer brands thus become fully owned by Carlsberg Britvic.
Production of surviving beers is predominately in Burton, but all are listed here under the group HQ.
Note - any beers which pre-date the 2006 sale and did not continue to be brewed are listed separately under Young's (-2006)
