Traditionally stronger in malt and sugar, sapodilla fruit adds a subtle caramel and raisin note. Malty sweet with a mild heat finishes the experience.

Tap at Pasteur Street, Hoi An. Poured a murky medium brown colour with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is malt, light treacle, light red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a rich, malt, mineral, earthy, leather, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Draft - Light roast and some raw cocoa. Deep jet brown with a rich beige head. Sweet dark malts and the subtle notes of the Sapodilla are lost on me. I have no idea what it is, but it just tastes like a dark malty beer to me.

Sapodilla Strong Ale 6.3% a reddish brown made with brown sugar and the sapodilla fruit. Great malty aroma, malty sweet, sugared plums - reminiscent of a barleywine. Medium bodied with a zesty carbonation. Nice malty flavor, raisin, some hoppy citrus, a bit of heat, caramel and just yum.
