Bottle. An unclear, really dark brown beer with a dense, two-finger dark beige head. Some lacing. The aroma is rather spiced, with raisin, dark malts, toffee hints, some alcohol and a touch of dark rye bread. Licorice too, when it heats up a bit. It's full-bodied, very lightly warming and very soft on the palate, sweet but not too sweet, and with a really gentle bitterness. The flavor has dark malts, brown sugar, some licorice and dark bread, quite a lot of dark dried fruit, raisin and fig mostly, along with quite a lot of spices. Ginger, cardamom, star anise, cloves and cinnamon I'd say. Should be eight in total according to the label. Some gentle notes of yeast too, indicating it might not have been fully fermented before bottling. Long spiced finish with dark dried fruit and some licorice. Well hidden alcohol all the way in the mouth, but the overall impression is a bit messy. I like the spices, but they take too much room, and it feels like it should've stayed longer on the fermenter. Sure nice though, and not what I was expecting from Vietnam. I just read Full Moon and my mind was instantly thinking of Witbier, which this sure isn't. Wont' shy away from drinking it again given the chance. 230111

Bottle from the Beer Temple, Hanoi. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, ripe red berry fruits, raisins, light alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a crisp, Christmas cake spicy, marzipan, herbal, rich fruity, light boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
