Due to its authenticity, Earthmonk received as little sugar as possible during bottle conditioning in order to preserve all original aromas and flavours. This beer comes with little carbonation and a mini head. Is best served at cellar temperature and poured generously, meaning from a hight of approximately 15 to 20 CM, in an upright standing tulip glass. A big bubbled head will quickly make place for the Earthmonk coming alive!

22 November 2025. GBV Tasting: Struise en kaas feat. Tim DR (Jan Yoens). Cheers to the whole crew!

Hazy dark brown-black, stable, thin, tan head. Expressive aroma of malt vinegar, fermenting cherries, brambleberry, nectarine, leather, pralines, fruit liqueur, almond, tobacco (indeed, Tim!), vague diacetyl, port wine. Taste has sweetish ripe brambleberry & cherry going over funky & sourish notes of yoghurt, malt vinegar and leather, kept together by a milk-chocolatey, almondy malt body. Tart finish of dried dark fruits, woody tannins and warming port-like alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Has definitely 'mellowed' over the years but not lost any complexity. This is excellent!

2008 vintage shared by Turd, this has been one of my White Walz forever. Poured a darker brown almost black with reddish edges, the head is bubbles. Nose is complex, pungent, fruity, vinous, woodsy. Taste is tangy, vinous, vinegar, woodsy, malty, metallic.

Tasting at Sam's in Chapel Hill. Cheers!

Dense, shiny, dark black pour.
Heavy plum, brown sugar, nice acidy nose.
Heavy black tea with lemon & aperitif, slight soot, lovely acid, lingering lemon, great earth.
Mellow to low carb, who cares, this is great.

Also great, even though it has less woodiness. Tastes quite a bit fresher. Love this stuff.

Bottle at the beer bistro
Dark mahogany pour, with no head. Huge aroma of balsamic vinegar, tart apples, and touches of dark fruit. Zero carbonation, medium body. Tart finish, big vinous quality, port wine, and red wine vinegar. A true classic.

From a bottle at a RateBeer tasting. Pours a Murky brown with a scant head. Aromas are slightly funky. Flavors are slightly sweet toffee. Has held up pretty well for a 2008 vintage bottle.
