2024's Doppelbock, aged in a very peaty Islay whisky barrel.
This is smoky, dark, peated and intense.
Not for the feint of heart.

Bottle at home. Pours clear ruby, nose is peat smoke, caramel, berries, toffee, taste is sour berries up front, caramel, smoky, peaty finish, quite thin. 8/8/8/7/7

The brethren provideth. Opaque dark brown with a ruby tint. Bubbly beige head soon forms a microbubble thin band. Aroma is certainly peaty... virtually entirely. Underlying caramel malts provide a sweet buffer. Hmm...
Smoky. Almost acrid. A sour streak that's citrusy. There's also a sweet streak in there. More of a follow-up. However the barrel aging does seem to have launched a coup. Medium bodied. Oily. Soft lazily fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. I like. If you don't like heated whisky you won't agree. But another one where I'd like to try the original.
