Dark and rich with aromas of muscovado sugar, blackcurrants and fruitcake, this winter ale is hopped with a traditional blend of Fuggles and Goldings to balance the slightly sweet finish.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a sizeable cream head. There’s malts and cherries in the aroma plus hints of alcohol. In the mouth it is quite sweet with a creamy texture but overall light and lacking in body a little. Flavour has treacle, toffee, fruittvake, rum and spices plus some traces of ginger. A little bitterness in the boozy finish. This is rather nice – and hides its strength well.
