American Amber Ales are like American Pale Ales but with more body, more caramel richness, and a balance more towards malt than hops (although hop rates can be significant, like in this one). Expect an enormous and delicious beer. Brewed for GABS 2015.

Pours vibrant copper with a large fading head.Nose shows heavy sweet malt with along with sultana, tropical fruit and golden syrup.Heavy malt as a flavour too accompanied by some slightly solvent-like booze and fruity hop notes.

A fantastic dark amber colour accompanies aromas of toffee, honey, sherbet, orange peel and fruit cake. The alcohol is strong on the palate, along with raisins, honey and grapefruit. There’s a sting of bitterness at the end, and then that lingering fruit cake aftertaste. Lovely on a cold winter night. Bottle from Tru Bru.
