RBESG08 grand tasting. Man I was happy when I got this one. Poured a really murky brown colour with a small tan head. A funky nose with notes of vinegar and raisins. Lovely sour taste, sour cherries, dark malt, vinegar. Superb interplay of sweet and sour flavors. The best Sour Ale I’ve ever had, by far.

[i] [b] Bottle, many thanks to Ian ’Harrisoni’ for this one, cheers mate! [/i] [/b] Pours dark brown with wispy head. Aroma quite striking and I was immediately hit with a glorious basamic vinegar scent, this was interspersed with zesty orange, and cherry, quite stunning. The taste was quite bizarre and nothing like I had anticipated. If truth be told I wasn’t immediately taken by this, it was a classic grower in the way that records back in the old days (the 80’s say) would chart at say No:33 and take about 5-6 weeks before the reached the heady heights of the top ten this was just like that but by the end I wanted more. Loz on the other hand was taken in by it straight away and kept remarking about the cherries, old classic wine qualities and lovely effervescence of course she was spot on, I got balsamic vinegar again we both noted the similarity to the Rodenbach Vin de Cereal, this was great. Once again a big, big thanks to Ian.

Drunk to celebrate my rating number 9900. A dark red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has sweet berry notes combined with acidic notes of brettanomyces, and wood. The flavor is lovely acidic with an underlying sweetness - and it is very complex with notes of berries, wood, brettanomyces, prunes, grapefruit, and mold. The acidity lingers on the palate and back of the tongue. Nice one. Thanks Carlo for this bottle.

75cl bottle bought at olbutikken, Copenhagen. Tasting@beermouth. Pours cloudy brown with a off white bubbly head. Aroma is of sour vinegar, earthy, vinous, dark fruits (raisins) . Sweet & pleasant (still very complex) and still with a nice sour bite. Very good & sticky Flemish all the way.

Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing - Semi-cloudy amber/brown beer - the aroma is equal parts acidic and sweet, with some christmas cookie kind of spiciness - loads of red wine tannins in the aroma, that carry over into the flavor - sour/tart, but not dry, like a sweet-ish red wine - a wee bit of oak, and those tannins really persist throughout - I enjoyed this.

Bottle at home ... Thanks to Joris for this ... Deep wonderfull scarlet ruby red... Sharp touch vinegary but deep somthing aroma... ohh the flavour to this is intence... now im not a sour beer fan but this it on the Edge between love and loathing. The sourness of the flavour is definitly not my thing but what that same sourness does to the mouth feel is sublime.Flavour sharp bite sour but rich intence fruit and balsamic vinegar and possibly a touch of iron(as in flavour of blood). Im not sure i can describe it but the sumation for me is that i know this is a beer i want to restockmesandsim wedding dep brown burgendy ... thin tan lacing ... soft deep rich cherry fruit nose ... darl fruits juicy malts ... light blackcurrant sourness... hint if blood metalicness ... rich and complex and just so drinable 4.2EarthNUNDeep brown ... little red ... wonderfully complex nose ... deep fruits ... caramel malts ... and tart lambic nose ... oh my oh my this is suberb ... its got all the flavour and complexity of a sour but subdued .,.. tart and fruits ... rich soft malt tones ...mellow sweetness.4.4 Bottle at home.. Dark brown with a disappearing head. Sour aroma, matured fruits and vinous notes. Very complex flavor - chokolate, grapes and plums. Tarty and deep. Excellent beer and without competition in this category.
