Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6
A hazy copper and light amber coloured body with a nice rich glow and a dense, slow-dying five centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of yeast, bread, alcohol, grain, cereal and more malt - funky and definitely on the earthier side, especially for the style. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong malt notes with cardboard, light apples and pears, a touch of grain and alcohol along with some malty and nutty flavours that show some caramel. Aftertaste is a bit plain with the earthiness, nuts and malt that show through - no real bit in the name of complexities. Overall, a decent beer with some yeast, malt and grain flavours that show throughout, but not enough of a hop balance or character to break through. I sampled this 440 mL bottle purchased from TOPS in Cape Quarter (Green Point), Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa on 14-August-2015 for ZAR27,99 sampled at home in Washington on the opposite end of the planet (and added to Chili) on 10-November-2016.
