Deep murky brown and muddied amber coloured body with copper highlights and a faint off-white head. Aroma of sour grapes, a lot of malt, earth, toffee, grain and a touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong rich malty flavour with earth, grain, alcohol, caramel and a touch of metal all noticeable, all with the faintest of sour notes - more of a passing flavour. Aftertaste shows the alcohol and the malt, but only a tiny bit of fruity sweetness and even less sour notes, but there are some. Overall, a decent beer at best that shows too much malt, a bit too much caramel and body and not enough sour elements and complexity. Still nice to try, especially on tap, but not a beer worth searching out. I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 22-September-2016 sampled at the end of my driveway for US$4,00.
