Gives me the odd sensation that potpourri is stuck in my sinuses. Somw roast and some vanilla. Bittersweet finish. Black pour with good head and lacing. Some booze. Not very well balanced. Bottle from Julios liquors.

Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours black with a small light tan head. The nose is rich roast, umami, cacao nibs, earth, oily, burnt porridge, tangy fruit action, smoke?, dull sulphur perhaps and burnt rice pudding. The taste is bitter, toasty, hard roast, dark chocolate, chocolate liqueur, dusty, burnt vibe, chewy malt and rocky road with a slick finish. Full body and fine, prickly carbonation . From bottle to tulip. I love the beers in this series, but this one misses the mark a little. Alcohol, oats and moderate coffee onthe aroma. Black with big, beautiful deep brown head that falls away to a brown collar with slight dusting over the top. Taste is oats, chocolate and heavy dark roast coffee. Mouthfeel is oily and covers the mouth with slight velvet. As it warmed, it became more acidic and bitter.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Daniel. Pours oily, deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds hard roast, burnt honey, cocoa, earth. Medium to heavy sweet flavor, with an odd oily palate, more honey, bitter cocoa, ash. Medium to full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes with more sticky, oily burnt honey, harsh ash, bitter chocolate. A strange beer. Not at all drinkable.

Bottle split at LKS, big thanks to Danny, 07/01/16. Pitch black with a decent tan covering that dissipates to edgeing. Nose is chocolate shake, maltesers, honey, toffee fudge, sweet and sour vibes. Taste comprises chocolate fudge, airy malt, maltesers, sweet licks, honeycomb. Medium + bodied, fine to oily carbonation, light warming alcohol in the close. Ok impy.

33cl bottle. This is quite different than all the other beers in the series - very cocoa heavy, with a texture that feels a little coarse, exactly like a cocoa shake does. Vanilla, caramel and faint whiskey aroma and taste is also present.

Bottle at home. Black w creamy brown head. She’s a looker alright. Coffee candy, sweet roasted malt, big hops. Damn that thing is sweet. There is pepper in here, black pepper. There is some cocoa in between all of that but it’s not half as obvious as its name. Also a big shoutout to my main man: Haile Melasse! Lots of it. Fcuk, I wish I could change my username. (330ml bottle from the Mikkeller Webshop) Pours inky black with a tiny ring of dark tan bubbles. Aroma of dark cocoa powder, dark malt, a bit of astringent roast coffee, light smoke, heather, and a slightly funny dusty note. On the palate, lots of cocoa again, roasted malts, semisweet chocolate bar, moderate smoke, a bit of toffee sweetness but not too cloying. Towards the finish, quite bitter with roasted cacao, cocoa powder, tar, herbal notes, smokey wood and a bit of vanilla and spent coffee grounds. Some drying alcohol heat. Medium-full and viscous with below average carbonation. I actually expected this to be sweeter based on the vanilla version, but the roasty, smoky character made it more balanced and drinkable than expected. Still lots of nice dessert-y cocoa but not too cloying.
